Fasting Day 32 of 40: Synergy

Synchronicity is the alignment of two parts; synergy is what happens after they meet. When you find the girl, it is up to you if you dance or not. How you two dance is what you discover. Unity takes many forms, but the simplest are these: the ease and fluidity of movement, the “knowing” of what the others will do, and the creation of something greater than the parts. In the weaving of these individual pieces, there is a grander tapestry coming to life. The fun is being the string getting wound, and the patchwork at the same time.

There are some people we just “click” with. They are easy to be around, they laugh at the same jokes, and play the same games. While they are sovereign and unique, their perspectives and skills enhance the time spent together. There is a freedom of movement that comes. All of our uglier parts are allowed when we are with these people. They bring out the best in us through their play, and hold space for us when we need to be bratty. From this, everyone involved syncs up more easily and redirects to the work at hand.

The wonder of this tandem coordination is the intimate knowing we find. It reminds me of cleaning up the kitchen after a big holiday meal. We are all singing and dancing along as we weave in and around each other. The song takes a new direction, and we adjust. The sweeper comes through, and you mosey to the side. A new dance move is made by the Tupperwarer, and I try it out. Within the freedom of expression and movement, there is shared understanding of what a person does almost before they do it. These moments feel like tiny premonitions and are so common that they may go unnoticed. They feel like home.

It is in this divine play and dance that we create something special. Had only one person been responsible for clean up, there would be no show. It requires shared moments with others, the freedom to express and the desire for intimacy. As you shimmy with your sister, you become closer in bond and joy, allowing for further explorations of fun. As you two dance together, it empowers your brother to go for an opera solo. We each seek to be a part of such a creation. It is a soulful call that we all possess. Every ecstatic moment adds to the play that we are all performing and creates more of the same. It builds up into a crescendo of energy and fun until the individual parts truly become one.

All the Love,

Ryan Orion

Fasting Notes:

I am so close to the finish line! Today is day one. Today is day one. Today is Day one

Yesterday was laundry day and I am enjoying a recovery day. It amazes me how much time and energy I have spent in my life doing laundry. As I went through the movement I found simple rhythms to move. Because I am not able to move easily, moving to the beat is a requirement. I have found a small dance in almost everything I do, from typing, to drinking water, to walking. It requires more energy than I have to resist, so why resist?

I am amazed at the need to be cold. As my body consumes parts of itself for nourishment, I go through periods of slight fever, followed by chills. What I have found is that I can direct the chills. In shivering and feeling that shiver deeply in areas of high fat and stretch marks, I can feel the skin coming together. Cold is a natural healer for us if we let it. Although it can be uncomfortable, it is a part of life, so why hide from it. By working with the cold I have seen and felt immense change within me.

I am hosting a live event at Earth and Soul in Sand Springs at 6PM CT. I will be speaking on this journey and some general life wisdom I have been given. You can join us live here!
